The influence we have on others should never be underestimated. Scientific surveys have been done about the effect one person has throughout their "social network". It is really pretty amazing. In an even more specific way our teachers have significantly touched our lives with a permanent influence. It may be true that we don't recall all of the details of how they influenced us but the reality is there.

I saw a movie recently called "The Last Dance" starring Maureen O'Hara (you can search YouTube for several on-line segments). In this movie she plays the part of a Latin Teacher who intentionally touched her class and continued to "carry them in her heart" for years. You can see the influence she has, even after retirement, in the students she meets. I know that our teachers, though often unrecognized, were significant in the shaping of our lives. They don't replace parents and grandparents but they are a significant part of our growth and personal contribution to society.

I hope this photo brings back some good memories of the influence our teachers had in touching our lives - even today.
